Johnny Kovacs Massage Therapist

About:

Johnny grew up in Chico and have been heavily involved in the world of sports here. Whether it's wrestling or jiu jitsu, running or swimming, rock climbing, softball, volleyball, pickleball, or just going on walks with his wife, he enjoys staying very active everyday.

Various injuries in those sports sparked an interest in massage that began with him giving massages to teammates during competitions and practices. It led him on a journey of finding healing in his own body through massage and physical therapy. Johnny has now finished his studies at Chico Massage School in 2025, beginning my career as a CMT.

Recovery Bound is all about integrative therapeutic massage with the goal of muscle relaxation, improved range of motion, and soft tissue recovery/maintenance. Sessions are personalized to each clients' needs using a variety of modalities in a complete, integrative massage.

Integrative massages address and reduce chronic pain, headaches/migraines, soreness, fatigue, scar tissue, and more.

Mission:
To perform clean, safe, informed massage for people who desire to recover, maintain or increase mobility in their muscles through soft tissue manipulation.

Massage Therapy Benefits…..

Stress Relief and Relaxation:
Massage therapy effectively reduces stress levels by releasing tension in the muscles and stimulating the body's natural relaxation response. It decreases cortisol, the stress hormone, and increases serotonin and dopamine, which promote a sense of calm and well-being.

Pain Relief:
Massage therapy can alleviate various types of pain, including muscle tension, headaches, and chronic pain conditions. It promotes blood flow, reduces inflammation, and releases endorphins, the body's natural painkillers. Massage techniques like trigger point therapy, Swedish massage, and deep tissue massage target specific areas of discomfort and provide significant pain relief.

Improved Circulation:
Massage stimulates lymph and blood flow, which promotes the removal of toxins and metabolic waste products from the body. Increased circulation improves oxygen and nutrient delivery to tissues, resulting in enhanced overall health and a boost in energy levels.

Reduced Muscle Tension and Stiffness:
Massage techniques like stretching, kneading, and rolling work to release muscle tension and relieve stiffness. Massage improves the flexibility and range of motion by promoting relaxation and breaking down adhesions in the connective tissue. This can enhance athletic performance, reduce the risk of injuries, and alleviate discomfort caused by muscle spasms or knots.

Improved Sleep:
Massage therapy can promote relaxation and improve sleep quality. It can reduce feelings of anxiety and stress, create a more restful environment, and facilitate a deeper and more restful sleep. Consistent massage sessions can establish a bedtime routine that supports a healthy sleep-wake cycle.
